Varahi

This sculpture depicts Varahi, one of the Sapta Matrikas, the seven mother goddesses in Hindu tradition. Associated with Lord Vishnu’s boar incarnation, Varaha, she is portrayed with the face of a pig and the body of a woman. Varahi is often depicted riding a buffalo or a boar, symbolizing strength and protection. Revered as a goddess of fertility, she is worshipped by women seeking conception or a healthy pregnancy. This intricately carved sculpture reflects the spiritual significance and artistic excellence of early Hindu tradition, capturing Varahi’s nurturing yet formidable presence with remarkable detail.
