Rules for photography/digital photographs of Bihar Museum Collections
Interested scholars and individuals may request for one-time, non-commercial use of photographs of Bihar Museum, Patna Collections for publishing in journals, articles and academic books or conference/classroom presentations by sending the following form to additional.director.admin@biharmuseum.org
Permission Mode
Kindly note that permission to publish images will be granted through email only and only in extraordinary situations the same may be granted in hard copy.
Image resolution
High-resolution images (300 dpi) will also be sent via email.
Discretion clause
The discretion to allow permission for publishing solely rests with Bihar Museum.
One-time usege clause
Permission will be granted for one-time use only and for the purpose specified.
Cost per image
The cost per image will be minimum Rs. 1000/- (Payment acceptable only in Indian currency (INR)).
7-10 working days & video fee
The granting of permission and image may require 7–10 working days from the date of receiving the request. If there is any fee involved (video), the same will be intimated to the applicant before granting permission.
Acknowlegement format
Bihar Museum–Patna Collection Accession no: (This is only a sample, please use the correct Acc. number that will be shared with the photograph)
The acknowledgement language should be as shown below:
- The font size of the acknowledgement text should not be less than 10
- The acknowledgement should appear alongside the image/on the same slide being shown/same page where the image is published.
Two complimentary copies of the publication to be provided to the Bihar Museum, Patna for record purpose.
Undertaking for One-Time Usage
Interested scholars and individuals to submit an undertaking for one-time usage for publishing in journals, articles and academic books or conference/classroom presentations.
Submission of Demand Draft
After email confirmation of availability of images, please send Demand Draft (DD) in favour of "DDO, Bihar Museum"either through post or submit by hand to the following address:
For PhD/Research student:
Application with authorization letter will be submitted in advance. He/she has to submit a small abstract and the list of the objects to be researched/photographed. As per subject/title, Bihar Museum will allow only 20% of the collection; with above, they will be allowed without any cost.
For Bihar Museum officers:
Any curator/curatorial associate wanting to work on specialized theme and subject on the collection/object which is not in his/her charge must take proper approval from the concerned Curator/Curatorial Associates and in all cases concerned Curator/Curatorial Associate.
