Kalpavraksha

This is a Kalpavriksha, an Ashoka tree. A female figure is on top from bust upwards and is carrying a full bowl. There is a scarf across the arms and lotuses on the shoulders. Kalpavriksha is a wish-fulfilling divine tree in Indian religions like Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism; its earliest descriptions are mentioned in Sanskrit literature. It is also a popular theme in Jain cosmology and Buddhism.

Object information could be updated as new research findings emerge.
